Upper St. Clair Financial Advisor
We help individuals and families make better financial planning and investment management decisions
If you've clicked on our site, you're probably searching for guidance on a financial concern, and you're trying to find someone who you can trust to provide that guidance. You've also probably come across tens, if not hundreds, of sites offering to connect you to the best advisors and are unsure where to start.
Prospective clients normally want to find out about our level of experience working with clients who are similar to themselves, and they want to find out if we'll act in their best interest. Our site does have information which speaks to those elements, but in our experience, the best way to find out if we're a good fit to provide guidance to you is to talk to us by scheduling an introductory call.

Do we have the experience to help and will we act in your best interest?
-
Yes! We are Experienced
Each of the lead Riverchase advisors has nearly 30 years of experience in financial services and are Certified Financial PlannerTM practitioners and Enrolled Agents with the IRS. We have helped near-retirees and retirees to implement tax efficient distribution strategies to enjoy retirement. We have worked with executives and high-earners to design strategies to invest and protect wealth. We have worked with families who need help prioritizing savings for retirement vs. college vs. other expenses. In short, we've seen just about every client situation, and we hope we can help you too.
-
Yes! We are Independent and Objective
Clients want recommendations without worrying if there is an ulterior motive to the recommendation. Is the recommendation in the client's best interest or the advisor's? It's hard to provide objective advice when a corporate edict from above requires certain recommendations or when compensation is tied to the sale of a specific product. Riverchase is not affiliated with any financial firms which could influence our recommendations, and we intentionally established a fee-only structure to eliminate the conflict presented by commission based product recommendations. This frees us to make recommendations which we believe best improves client outcomes.

Yes! We are Fiduciaries
We are required, by law, to act in the best interest of our clients. More important, we act in the best interest of our clients because it is the right thing to do.

About Jaco
Advisor - Upper St. Clair and South Hills of Pittsburgh
I live with my wife and two young kids in Upper St. Clair, PA, and I lead Riverchase's Pennsylvania presence. I spent most of my early career with a national financial services firm, climbing the corporate ladder to the role of Chief Investment Strategist. In 2016, I made the decision to leave the corporate world behind and work directly with individuals and families.
Helping clients understand the financial implications of their decisions is my passion, and I have been told by many clients that I have a way of simplifying complex concepts. That likely comes from the alphabet soup behind my name which represents a professional legacy of always learning in order to add knowledge needed to best serve my clients.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to help you and your family with your own financial needs.
Financial Advisor Services
Comprehensive financial planning means looking at more than just a single aspect of a client's financial needs. Financial planning services may be offered on a standalone basis or included on an ongoing basis for our wealth management clients.
At a high level, our planning and wealth management services are designed to answer the questions "Am I okay?" and "What should I be doing differently?"
At a more granular level, the typical financial plan includes:
- Identification of goals and objectives
- Data gathering to identify current assets and liabilities, income and resources
- Evaluation of funding status and savings needs for major goals such as retirement, college, major purchases or other.
- Evaluation of risks to goals including need for insurance (we do not sell insurance, but will evaluate the need for changes to your life, disability or property and casualty portfolio in the context of your plan)
- Evaluation and recommendation of estate planning needs including estate transfer and legacy goals
- Evaluation and recommendation of tax plan to minimize tax over a client's lifetime
- Evaluation of your current investment strategy and recommendation for restructuring if appropriate
- Implementation recommendations, either through Riverchase or through unaffiliated third parties.
The bullet points above cover the major areas of our planning services and have different levels of importance depending on where you are along your financial journey.
